Resources on Being an Ally

  • The Important Role of Allies

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.” Families for Justice seeks to break this silence. In keeping with our mission to incorporate the voices of allies who are committed to the work of social justice and racial equality, we plan to generate and foster discussion among allies to the #BlackLivesMatter and anti police brutality movement.

Allies don’t stay silent. Allies don’t look away. Together we can and together we should

Visit this page for tips and thought provoking discussion on what it means to be an ally.

  • Police Can Also Be Allies

It is important for us to emphasize that our group is not anti-police or law enforcement. Wsegway-maine support the police and other members of law enforcement. We support their fundamental mission to protect and serve our communities. We see them as valuable allies in the fight against systematic  racial injustice and police brutality and we actively seek opportunities to cooperate with them.

  • Community Allies

Although Families for Justice is an autonomous group with no specific political, geographic, sectarian, or other affiliation, we proudly collaborate with a variety of like minded individuals and organizations in the community, including Mothers for Justice United, with whom we have partnered for the Million Moms March in Washington DC occurring May 9, 2015. Want to connect with us? We’d love to hear from you! Contact us at info@familiesforjusticeusa.org for more information on ways you can help further our cause.
